Entrance fees for Queen Elizabeth national park- 2021

Entrance fees for Queen Elizabeth national park-2021 are mandatory payments that are paid at the park entrance to allow visitors access the national park so as to engage in different activities that provide great experiences. The entrance fees are set by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and they are charged according to your place of origin. Queen Elizabeth national park is one of the most visited protected areas located in western part of Uganda and it offers interesting activities including game drives in Kasenyi plains, boat cruise on Kazinga channel, hot air balloon safaris, lion tracking experience, guided nature walks, bird watching, chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura gorge among others. 

Queen Elizabeth national park harbors abundant wildlife species including animals like the big four of the big five mammals (elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards), other animals like Uganda kobs, bushbucks, waterbucks, hippos, crocodiles, warthogs, primates like chimpanzees, vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, different bird species  among others. Queen Elizabeth national park is famously known for harboring the unique tree climbing lions which are found in Ishasha sector in the southern part of the park. The tree climbing lions will be seen lying up in the acacia/fig tree branches staring at the antelopes grazing in open plains.

Note: All visitors will be required to present valid identification documents to confirm their resident status, entrance fees for Queen Elizabeth national park-2021 are valid for twenty four hours from the time of entrance and extra time spend in the park after 24 hours will be charged as an extra day. Children are persons aged between 5 to 15 years and persons below 5 years are exempt. Entrance fees for Queen Elizabeth national park-2021 are as follows. 

Park entrance fees

  • Foreign non residents are charged USD 40 per entry and children are charged USD 20
  • Foreign residents are charged USD 30 per entry and children are charged USD 10
  • East African citizens are charged UGX 20,000 per entry and children are charged UGX 5000 per entry.
  • Uganda pupils or students (groups) are charged UGX 3000 per entry
  • Tertiary institutions/universities are charged UGX 5000 per entry
  • Uganda wildlife clubs are charged UGX 2000 per entry

Annual park entrance passes 

  • Foreign resident individuals pay USD 350
  • East African citizen individuals pay UGX 150,000
  • Foreign resident couples pay USD 500
  • East African citizen couples pay UGX 200,000
  • Foreign resident family with a maximum of 4 children pays USD 700
  • East African citizen family with a maximum of 4 children pays UGX 300,000
  • A foreign resident will pay annual corporate pass of USD 1,500
  • An East African citizen will pay annual corporate pass of UGX 2,500,000
  • A safari guide will be charged UGX 100,000
  • A taxi driver will be charged UGX 100,000
  • A tour company driver is free to enter.

Motorcycles

  • Motor cycles for foreign non residents are charged USD 30 per entry, foreign residents are charged USD 5 per entry and a registered Ugandans will be charged UGX 10,000 per entry

Saloon cars

  • Foreign non residents are charged USD 40 per entry, foreign residents are charged USD 10 per entry and registered saloon cars for East African citizens are charged UGX 20,000 per entry

Minibuses, Omni-buses

  • Registered minibuses for foreign non residents are charged USD 50 per entry, foreign residents are charged USD 15 per entry and East African citizens are charged UGX 30,000 per entry

Pick-ups

  • Registered pick-ups for foreign non residents are charged USD 50 per entry, foreign residents are charged USD 15 per entry and East African citizens are charged UGX 30,000 per entry 

Tour company vehicles and 4 wheel drive

  • Registered tour company vehicles for foreign non residents are charged USD 150 per entry, foreign residents are charged USD 15 per entry and UGX 30,000 for East African citizens

Over Landers

  • Registered over Landers for foreign non residents are charged USD 150 per entry, foreign residents are charged USD 50 per entry and UGX 100,000 for East African citizens

Buses and Lorries

  • Foreign non resident buses are charged USD 150 per entry, USD 75 for foreign residents and UGX 150,000 for East African citizens

School buses

  • Foreign resident school buses are charges USD 25 per entry and East African citizens are charged UGX 50,000 per entry

Boats up to 15 Seater

  • Foreign non resident boats are charged USD 50 per entry, foreign residents are charged USD 25 per entry and East African citizens are charged UGX 50,000 per entry

Launches over 15 Seater

  • Launches for foreign non residents are charged USD 100 per entry, USD 75 for foreign residents and UGX 150,000 for East African citizens

Aircrafts landing fees

Aircraft landing fees exclude the entrance fees of passengers and pilots en-route do not pay entry fees if they spend less than 2 hours in the park.

  • Gliders, Microlights are charged USD 10 for foreign non residents and foreign residents and UGX 20,000 for East African citizens
  • Up to 3 Seater aircrafts are charged USD 20 for foreign non residents, foreign residents and UGX 40,000 for East African citizens   
  • 4 to 6 Seater aircrafts are charged USD 30 for foreign non residents, foreign residents and UGX 60,000 for East African citizens
  • 7 to 14 Seater aircrafts are charged USD 40 for foreign non residents, foreign residents and UGX 80,000 for East African citizens
  • 15 to 20 Seater aircrafts are charged USD 50 for both foreign non residents and foreign residents and UGX 100,000 for East African citizens
  • 21 Seater and above aircrafts are charged USD 60 for both foreign non residents and foreign residents and UGX 120,000 for East African citizens
  • Foreign non resident helicopters are charged USD 100 per landing, USD 125 for foreign residents and UGX 250,000 for East African citizens.
  • East African citizens are charged parking fees of UGX 10,000 per day.

Launch cruise

Launch cruise in Queen Elizabeth national park takes a maximum of 40 people, the trip takes approximately 2 hours and the minimum boat charges of 4 persons is USD 120 for foreign residents and UGX 120,000 for 4 Ugandans.

  • Foreign non residents and foreign residents in Queen Elizabeth national park are charged USD 30 and East Africa citizens are charged UGX 30,000 launch cruise fees
  • School groups for East African citizens are charged UGX 10,000 per person and 350,000 per group.

Guided game drives (private)

During the night game drives in Queen Elizabeth national park only pre-registered vehicles will undertake the activity and use of UWA guides is mandatory.

  • Foreign non residents and foreign residents are charged USD 20 per vehicle for day game drive and UGX 20,000 for East African citizens
  • Foreign non residents and foreign residents are charged USD 30 per person for guided night drives and UGX 30,000 for East African citizens.

Game drive vehicle (UWA)

  • Day game drive vehicles for foreign non residents and foreign residents are charged USD 30 per person and UGX 30,000 per person for East African citizens
  • Night game drive vehicles for foreign non residents and foreign residents are charged USD 40 per person and UGX 40,000  per person for East African citizens

Note: UWA executive buses are charged UGX 800,000 per day, the amount includes the driver and excludes fuel and minimum charge for game drive vehicles is an equivalent of 3 persons.

Guided nature walk and bird watching

Guided nature walk and bird watching fees in Queen Elizabeth national park are charged per person and the rates exclude the entrance fees and other activities.

  • Foreign non residents and foreign residents are charged USD 15 per person and  UGX 10,000 per person for East African citizens

Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura gorge

  • Foreign non residents and foreign residents are charged USD 50 per person and UGX 30,000 per person for East African citizens.
