Kyambura Gorge is located in the North Eastern region of Queen Elizabeth National park which is considered to be the second largest national park  situated in the South Western region of Uganda after Murchison falls national park and it park is famously known as the most visited park. How many chimpanzees are in Kyambura Gorge?

Kyambura Gorge has a number of about 80 chimpanzees, which act as the main attraction hence attracting many tourists to travel from all over the world, and touring around gives one chances to walk through the forest and be able to sight see the beautiful river. Chimpanzee trekking is a thrilling and an adventurous activity, which has contributed a lot towards the development of the tourism industry of Uganda and during this activity; it involves individuals to walk through the forests with an aim of tracking where these chimpanzees are located. More so, this activity always go for about 2 to 3 hours depending on where the chimpanzee are located due to the fact that they are always wandering around the park from one place to another as they search for food and later when they are spotted, tourists are given one hour to observe and interact with the chimpanzees. And during this period of time, tourists always  have chances to use their phones and cameras to take pictures and record videos of the chimpanzees but they are encouraged to disable flash lights and they also have great opportunities to observe and learn more about the chimps daily life style for example watch how they eat and feed their young ones but they are encouraged to keep a distance of about 7 meters between them and the chimps in order to avoid any harm and not to eat and drink while in the presence of the chimpanzees, avoid maintaining a direct eye contact and reduce the tone of their voices while in the presence of the chimps and many others.

However, before the chimpanzee trekking, tourists always gather in one place where they go through the registration process and are also given short briefings about the do’s and don’ts that they should follow while trekking. Later they are put in groups with a maximum number of eight people and each group is being assigned to with a park guide/ ranger whose role is to ensure high safety between individuals and animals.
