Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Depending on your location on the first day of the 3 days Rwanda gorilla and golden monkey tour, you will be welcomed by our driver guide from Achieve Global Safaris who will brief you about the safari and then go for a city tour in Kigali where you will visit the art centers, Kimironko market, Kigali genocide memorial center among others. After the city tour, you will go for lunch and later start the journey to Volcanoes National Park with great views of the rolling hills, beautiful scenery, landscape, and traditional homesteads among others on the way. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After an early breakfast on the second day of the 3 days Rwanda gorilla and golden monkey tour, you will carry a packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. After the beefing, you will start trekking in the jungle in search of the gorillas which takes about 2 to 6 hours drive. During trekking, you will be able to view other primates, and bird species and once the gorillas are found, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat where you will be able to learn about their behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities, take photos, record videos among others.
After the one hour with the mountain gorillas, you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and either return to the lodge or go for an optional Ibyi’wacu cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the local people, learn about their culture, way of living, lifestyle, enjoy their traditional entertainment among others. After the cultural tour, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and departure to Kigali
On the last day of the 3 days Rwanda gorilla and golden monkey tour, you will have an early breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide for an interesting golden monkey trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest which takes about 2 to 5 hours. During trekking, you will be able to different bird species, and other primates among others and once the golden monkeys are found, you will be able to one hour with them in their environment where you will watch them feed, play, jump up in tree branches, take photos and record videos to show people back home.
After golden monkey trekking, you will meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kigali with an en-route lunch. Upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Kigali International Airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advice.
