6 Days Rwanda primates tour
The 6 days Rwanda primates tour is an exciting primate safari that starts and end in Kigali Rwanda. The safari will take you to Nyungwe forest national park and Volcanoes national park where you will be able to spend time with the endangered mountain gorillas, golden monkeys and chimpanzees during gorilla trekking, golden monkey trekking and chimpanzee trekking experience. During the 6 days Rwanda primates tour, you will also engage in a city tour in Kigali, Ibyi’wacu cultural tour where you will interact with the local people and canopy walk where you will enjoy aerial views of the park, views of different primate species, birds among others.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
Depending on your location on the first day of the 6 days Rwanda primates tour, the driver guide from Achieve Global Safaris will pick you up from the airport or hotel, brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Nyungwe forest national park with a stopover at the former Kings Palace and another stopover for en-route lunch. After lunch, you will proceed to Nyungwe national park with great views of the rolling hills, beautiful scenery, landscape, traditional homesteads among others. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
After an early breakfast on the second day of the 6 days Rwanda primates tour, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest in search of the chimpanzees which takes about 2 to 5 hours drive. During trekking you will be able to view other primates, plant and tree species, birds among others and once the chimpanzees are found, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat where you will be able to learn about their behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities, take photos, record videos among others.
After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and then return to the lodge for lunch where after you will go for an adventurous canopy walk which starts from Uwinka visitors centre and is accessed from Igishigishi trail. The canopy walkway is 160 meters long and 70 meters high from the ground. During the canopy walk which takes about 2 hours, you will enjoy stunning aerial views of the forest, tree tops, view different birds, primates among others. After the canopy walk, you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes national park
On the third day of the 6 days Rwanda primates tour, you will have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Volcanoes national park. On the way you will have en-route lunch and enjoy great views of the rolling hills, beautiful scenery, landscape, homesteads among others. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park
After an early breakfast on the fourth day of the 6 days Rwanda primates tour, you will carry packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking briefing. After the beefing, you will start trekking in the jungle in search of the gorillas which takes about 2 to 6 hours drive. During trekking you will be able to view other primates, bird species and once the gorillas are found, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat where you will be able to learn about their behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities, take photos, record videos among others.
After the one hour with the mountain gorillas, you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight as above.
Day 5: Golden monkey trekking and Ibyi’wacu cultural tour
On the fifth day of the 6 days Rwanda primates tour, you will have an early breakfast and meet up with your driver guide go for an interesting golden monkey trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest which takes about 2 to 5 hours. During trekking you will be able to different bird species, other primates among others and once the golden monkeys are found, you will be able to one hour with them in their environment where you will watch them feed, play, jump up in tree branches, take photos and record videos to show people back home.
After golden monkey trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch where after you will go for an exciting Ibyi’wacu cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the local people, learn about their culture, way of living, lifestyle, enjoy their traditional entertainment among others. After the cultural tour, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Departure to Kigali
On the last day of the 6 days Rwanda primates tour, you will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kigali. Upon arrival, you will go a short city tour in Kigali where you will visit the art centres, Kimironko market, Kigali genocide memorial centre among others. After the city tour, you will have lunch where after your driver guide will drop you off at Kigali international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advise.
