2 Days Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking Tour is a short adventure that will start and end in Kampala Uganda. The safari will take you to Kibale national park also known as the primate capital because it’s a home of 13 primate species including chimpanzees, grey-cheeked mangabey, black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons among others and different bird species. During the 2 days Kibale chimpanzee trekking tour you will engage in Bigodi swamp walk and chimpanzee trekking where you will get an opportunity to interact with the chimpanzees in their natural habitat.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale national park, depending on your location on the first day of the 2 days Kibale chimpanzee trekking tour, our driver guide will pick you up from the lodge after breakfast, brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Kibale national park which takes about 5 to 6 hours drive. On the way you will pass through different towns such as Mityana, Mubende, Kyenjojo and enjoy stunning views of the countryside, beautiful landscapes, tea and banana plantations and en-route lunch in Fort Portal. After lunch you will proceed to kibale national park for an interesting nature walk in Bigodi swamp. During the swamp walk you will be lead by a local guide who will help you to spot primates like grey cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, animals like bush pigs, bushbucks, Sitatungas and different bird species like the great blue turaco, African paradise flycatcher, Ross’s turaco, white browed coucal, black and white casqued hornbill among others. After the swamp walk you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and departure to Kampala
Chimpanzee trekking, after an early breakfast on the last day of the 2 days Kibale chimpanzee trekking tour your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer to Kanychu visitor’s Center for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be grouped into 6 people where each group will be allocated a chimpanzee family to trek and a park guide who is knowledgeable about chimpanzees. Trekking of chimpanzees in Kibale national park takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees because they like to move from one place to another in search of food.
During trekking you will be able to view different wildlife species in the forest such as bird species, primates like black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkeys, view different plant and tree species among others. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be able to spend one hour with them in their environment which gives you a chance to watch them feed, fight, play, breastfeed, mate, rest, learn about their behaviors, take photos and record the breathtaking moments. After the chimpanzee trekking experience, you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for lunch.
Departure to Kampala, after lunch you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kampala where you will arrive early evening. Upon arrival you will be dropped off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of convenience.
