MARAFIKI SAFARI LODGE – QUEEN ELIZABET NATIONAL PARK

Marafiki safari lodge is a mid -range accommodation found in Kasase, Fort-portal mpondwe Road in the northern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda  Overlooking the distant edge of Lake George and  incredible Rwenzori Mountains. The lodge is located in the wilderness with bush comfort and in a perfect base where the sun rises from behind the dark of Kyambura Gorge resting on the far shores of Lake George giving a stunning view. One can be at the camp by road taking approximately 5-6 hours (370km) drive from  Kampala city to queen Elizabeth national park then an hour flight from Entebbe international airport to close Kasese airstrip and few minutes to be transferred to the camp while on Uganda Safaris.

Marafiki Safari lodge is comprised of 7 elegant and comfortable tents with the view of Lake George and the wilderness and handcrafted with local materials in African traditional style constructed from eucalyptus gum poles and canvas with grass thatched roof and local woods. Tents are well elevated with raised wooden floor to meet guest’s personal fondness and furnished with private en-suite facilities of mosquito nets ,  bathroom with hot and cold showers , flushing toilets, free toiletries , chairs and wooden tables ,free bottled water, free complementary bottled water, slippers in the rooms . Each tent has sitting areas, terraces and large veranda that give a panoramic view of the savannah plains, Rwenzori Mountain, Lake George and surrounding areas.  The Lodge has excellent and comfortable beddings with queen sized bed. There are campfire pit where fire glows, guests relax as they share stories/ experiences about the safari, it also provides warmth during cold periods. The camp offers Singles beds for individuals and  double beds/ twins with different costs ranging from  150$ and above per night per person, during peak season it goes slightly high than in low season .

A dining areas  on the reception  serving different mouth -watering  meal to meet visitors choice both local and international  cuisine;  They offer breakfasts overlooking the river  ,Picnic  lunch and dinner served by well trained and organized staff .You can even have meals in bush (breakfast  and dinner ) overlooking the stars in the sky

A well-stocked bar with both hard and soft drinks like beers, wines ,sodas etc,  you sip  any drink of your choice while overlooking the stunning view of the savannah grass land , Rwenzori mountain , distant lake George  and surrounding areas.

Activities  do while at the camp;  Game drive in the park that gives tourist a chance to spot more wide range of animals especially Buffaloes, elephants, antelopes , impalas etc  tree climbing lions in Ishasha sector where the camp is located , boat cruise at Kazinga channel, visiting local villages around the park , climbing Mount Rwenzori and many more.

Queen Elizabeth national park is the second largest and most visited national park found in western Uganda  near historical town of Fort portal (Tourism city) in districts of Kasese,  Kamwengye,  Rubirizi  and Rukungiri.  The park occupies the total  area of 987 km squared .The park extends from Lake George  in the north-east to Lake Edward in the south-westand includes the Kazinga Channel connecting the two lakes. It’s the wide channel in Uganda with 32 kilometers long. There are different accommodations in Queen Elizabeth national park;  budget ,mid range and  luxury accommodations.
