From Bwindi impenetrable national park you will connect to Queen Elizabeth national park where you will be able to view abundant wildlife species including primates like chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys in Kyambura gorge, the famous tree climbing lions in Ishasha sector, other animals like elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, waterbucks, bushbucks, Uganda kobs, hippos, Nile crocodiles, bird species among others during the game drive in Kasenyi plains and boat cruise on Kazinga channel.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park,

Depending on your arrival time at Entebbe international airport on the first day of the 6 days Bwindi gorillas and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about your Uganda Safari and then start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park. The national park is located in southwestern Uganda and it’s the most visited gorilla destination because it harbors the highest number of mountain gorillas and the only place that offers gorilla habituation experience. It’s a whole day journey to the park and on your way you will have a stopover at Igongo cultural center or Mbarara town for en-route lunch and then proceed with the journey to the park. Upon arrival you will continue to check into the lodge, have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park

After an early breakfast on the second day of the 6 days Bwindi gorillas and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari, you will carry packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be allocated a habituated gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is well conversant with different gorilla trails. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park takes about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will enjoy spectacular views of primates like l’hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, animals like bush pigs, forest elephants, plants, bird species like strange weaver, Rwenzori batis, Chapin’s fly catcher, handsome francolin among others. Once the gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn more about their behaviors, whach them carry out their daily activities like feeding, breastfeeding, playing, take photos and record the moments to show people back home. After the exciting moment with the mountain gorillas you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park via Ishasha sector   

On the third day of the 6 days Bwindi gorillas and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park which is the second largest protected area in Uganda. The journey takes about 3 to 4 hours drive and on your way you will pass via Ishasha sector for an interesting game drive where you will enjoy great views of the tree climbing lions which will be lying up in acacia/ fig tree branches, you will also be able to view other animals like elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, hippos, view some bird species among others. After the game drive in Ishasha sector you will have en-route lunch and then continue to Queen Elizabeth national park and upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Morning game drive/lion tracking and afternoon boat cruise

Game drive/ lion tracking experience,

After an early breakfast on the fourth day of the 6 days Bwindi gorillas and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive or lion tracking experience in Kasenyi plains. Game drive is one of the most done activities in the park and during the game drive you should look out for different animals like elephants, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, buffaloes, giant forest hogs, bushbucks, warthogs, bird species like martial eagle, African skimmer, grey crowned crane, red throat spur fowl, yellow throated long crow among others. On your lucky day you can view predators like lions, leopards and after the game drive you will drive to the lodge for lunch.

Afternoon boat cruise,

After lunch you will go for an amazing and interesting boat cruise on Kazinga channel a water body that joins Lake Edward and Lake George. During the boat ride which takes about 2 to 3 hours, you will be able to take beautiful pictures, enjoy stunning views of the landscape, beautiful scenery, view fishermen preparing their fishing nets for night fishing at the shores, view large concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes along the water banks, aquatic birds like fish eagle, long tailed cormorants, spur winged plover, squacco heron, black crake, papyrus gonolek, African jacana among others. After the interesting boat cruise you will meet up with your driver guide and transfer to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and crater lakes tour

On the fifth day of the 6 days Bwindi gorillas and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kyambura gorge also known as the valley of apes for the briefing about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated a park guide and start trekking in the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzees. Trekking of chimpanzees in Kyambura gorge takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will enjoy great views of other primate species like baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, view colorful bird species like African kingfisher, blue headed bee-eater, falcons, African finfoot, some animals like elephants, plant and tree species among others. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which helps you to learn more about their habits and behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, breastfeeding, playing, hunting, resting, take photos, record the moments among others. After spending one hour with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and transfer back to the lodge for lunch.

Crater lakes tour,

After lunch you will meet up with your driver guide to go a Crater Lake tour where you will visit Katwe Crater Lake. During the tour you will be able to interact with the local people who will be extracting rock salt from the lake so as to earn a living, visit Nyamunuka Crater Lake which is known as the hospital for animals, Lake Bunyampaka, Nyamunuka among others. After the Crater Lakes tour you will drive back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Departure to Kampala

On the last day of the 6 days Bwindi gorillas and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari, you will have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala. On the way you will have a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch and another stop over at the Equator where you will take photos and buy souvenirs among others. From the Equator you will proceed to Kampala and your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport in case you have an evening flight to catch or drop off at any place of convenience.
