8 Days Best of Uganda Adventure will take you to Bwindi impenetrable national park in southwestern Uganda where you get a chance to spend time with the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, Queen Elizabeth national park where you will have great views of wildlife species including the tree climbing lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, hippos, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks among others. During the 8 days best of Uganda adventure you will also visit Kibale national park where you will engage in an interesting chimpanzee trekking activity and Murchison falls national park where you will view wildlife species like buffaloes, elephants, Jacksons hartebeest, giraffes, lions, leopards and different bird species during the game drive.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park, depending on your location on day 1 of the 8 days best of Uganda adventure you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park which is situated in southwestern Uganda. On the way you will have a stopover at the Equator where you will buy souvenirs, take photos and then continue with another stopover at Igongo cultural centre for lunch. After lunch you will proceed the journey with spectacular views of the beautiful landscape, country side, Kigezi hills, terraced farmlands among others. Upon arrival at the park you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park

Gorilla trekking, after an early breakfast on day 2 of the 8 days best of Uganda adventure you will carry packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be allocated a habituated gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is knowledgeable about the mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi forest is strenuous therefore allocation of gorilla families is done according to age, physical fitness and personal preferences. Trekking of the mountain gorillas takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where the gorillas slept the previous night, during trekking you will be able to view other primates like chimpanzees, l’hoest monkeys, bird species, mammals, different plant and tree species among others. Once the gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you a chance to watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding breastfeeding, playing, learn about their behaviors, take photos and record the moments. After the one hour encounter with the mountain gorillas you will trek back to the starting point where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking, meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

After breakfast on day 3 of the 8 days best of Uganda adventure, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park which is the second largest national park in Uganda. On the way you will pass via Ishasha sector in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park which is famously known for harboring the tree climbing lions. Tree climbing lions in Ishasha sector will be seen lying up in fig tree branches staring at the Uganda kobs during the game drive. After the game drive you will have en-route lunch and then proceed to the park for an evening game drive where you will be able to view animals like elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, warthogs among others. After the game drive you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Morning game drive/lion tracking experience and afternoon boat cruise

Morning game drive, after an early breakfast on day 4 of the 8 days best of Uganda adventure your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive or lion tracking experience in Kasenyi plains. During the game drive you will get a chance of viewing a wide range of wildlife species like waterbucks, bushbucks, Uganda kobs, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, giant forest hogs among others grazing in the open savannah plains with due, view predators like lions and leopards if you are lucky, bird species, beautiful sunrise among others. After the game drive you will return to the lodge for lunch.

Afternoon boat cruise, after lunch you will go for an interesting boat cruise on Kazinga channel a water channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. The boat cruise takes about 2 hours and rewards you with great views of water animals like hippos, crocodiles, animals like buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks, warthogs which will be drinking water along the shores, views of water birds like cormorants, hornbills, kingfishers, fish eagles, bee-eaters among others. After the boat ride you will drive back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Morning game drive and transfer to Kibale national park

Morning game drive, after breakfast on day 5 of the 8 days best of Uganda adventure you will meet up with your driver guide to go for another game drive where you will be able to view some of the animals that you might have missed during the previous game drive. You will drive to Katwe Crater Lake where you will view animals licking the salt water, view different bird species and interact with the local people who will be extracting rock salt from the lake. From Lake Katwe you will drive to the lodge for lunch where after you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your drier guide to transfer to Kibale national park. It’s a 3 hour drive journey and on the way you will have stunning views of the tea plantations, Rwenzori ranges, crater lakes among others, upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

Chimpanzee trekking, after an early breakfast on day 6 of the 8 days best of Uganda adventure you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated a park guide who is conversant with trails in the forest and a chimpanzee family to trek. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale national park takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will be able to view other primates like black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, olive baboons, red tailed monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, blue monkeys, view different bird species, mammals, plants among others. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to observe their habits, behaviors, watch them feed, hunt, fight, breastfeed, rest, take photos and record the breathtaking moments. After the one hour with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for lunch.

Afternoon swamp walk, after lunch you will go for an interesting nature walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary. During the swamp you will be able to view variety of wildlife species from the forest pathways, boardwalks and a tree top canopy. During the nature walk you can look out for primates like red tailed monkeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, bird species like the great blue turaco, hornbills, kingfishers, parrots, view colorful butterflies, enjoy the cool breeze among others. After the swamp walk you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: transfer to Murchison falls national park

After breakfast on day 7 of the 8 days best of Uganda adventure, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Murchison falls national park which is the largest national park in Uganda. On the way you will have en-route lunch and fascinating views of the country side, beautiful scenery among others. Upon arrival in Murchison falls national park you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Morning game drive and departure to Kampala

Morning game drive, after an early breakfast on day 8 of the 8 days best of Uganda adventure you will meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive where you will be able to view variety of wildlife species including elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, waterbucks, bushbucks, Uganda kobs, Oribi, Jacksons hartebeest, giraffes, different bird species among others. After the game drive you will return back to the lodge for lunch where after you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kampala. Upon arrival you will be dropped off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at the hotel depending on your schedule.
